Rush – Five Minute Friday

                       – Rush – Five Minute Friday

 “Come on. let’s get going.”

“Hurry up. We need to go now.”

“Speed up, guys. Let’s go!”

Just a few of many sentences we’ve all said throughout the years.

I know those were sure said when my kids were little. We’d be getting things together to go some where. Year after year was filled with many of those Hurry up’s

Then one day my eyes were opened up from an article I read. I don’t remember the exact words but it sure stuck to me ever since. It stated how kids are always surrounded with those rush-rush words. “Come on! Walk faster,” is one of many said on a routine basis.

Guilt hit me right then and there. I was one molding in my kids minds how life must have a rush-filled feeling 24/7. Not good. From then on I’ve always caught myself when those thoughts began to form. Do we really have to go so fast?  became my new question. I then began making it so we weren’t in such a rush so often.

I didn’t change over night, that’s for sure, but I did try my darnedest to get that rush-rush feeling to show up less and less. Slow down, Marianne. Slooooooow down.

How about we see if we all can replace that word ‘Rush’ with that one simple word: Relax.

Loved – Five Minute Friday

– Loved

Note the word ‘Loved’ is past tense.  I’ll now think of the many times in my past that I sure have loved.

I have loved the time God opened my heart. I felt He directly said to me ‘I love you’. The most important day of my most important memory lane that began many years ago.

I have loved the time I saw my husband for the first time. That second had me believe that ‘Love at first sight’ can actually be true.

I have loved the outcome of even that, hall shall I say it, uncomforted feeling I felt giving birth to each of my four children. So worth it, indeed.

I have loved how God decided what was the best time for me to have that life changing seizure. It was so obvious God knew the best time and place for it to take place, for it truly showed, even though it was tough, His Fatherly love was right there.  (Click here to read more about that day.)

I have loved the entire route I’ve taken at getting my first memoir/book out. It sure hasn’t’ been easy. God showed me it was Him pushing me forward from start to finish.

Why don’t you look back at those times from your past you’ve loved. We should never run out of time to continue thanking God for that love He knew we’d never forget.

Anniversary – Five Minute Friday

                  – Anniversary – Five Minute Friday –

So here I am, thinking about what I could write from this weeks one special word: Anniversary.

“Hmmmm. which one should I use?”

c34115e215454d06594dc1af83409c85

Do I focus on the 30th anniversary my hub and I had a little over a month ago? Of course that came to mind first being I still keep thinking how God spoiled me, bringing that man  into my life.

Then an anniversary of a few other important things popped into mind.

The anniversary of bringing my first baby into my life. God used that day as the final frosting, only 6 hours labor from start to finish, after an incredible easy pregnancy. Then of course the three others that followed the next nine years. I love birthdays.

Then thoughts flew to mind the beginning of a new type life that began December 20th of 1990. The day I got hit with Encephalitis – a brain affected illness – the day that began one major trial for me and many others.

I make that an anniversary being God, too, began that day holding me, proving to others He was in charge of that entire ordeal as well.

And how can I leave out tons of those little itsy-bitsy anniversaries. The day God had us spot Sammy at a dog pound, the best puppy made just for us. Or the day we moved into an obviously God given home we’ve now been in for 20 years. If I had more time, this  type anniversary list would go on and on but . . . 5 minutes is now almost up.

So I’ll end with one fact about all these anniversaries. Thinking of them all had me see God was the center piece of each one. That then had me realize the best anniversary for me out of them all was the day God let me know, 33 years ago . . . I was one of His.

That 13th Hour – Five Minute Friday

   – That 13th Hour – Five Minute Friday

thinking

Time to think.

Everyone has two 12 hour batches every single day. But what if everyone, for some crazy reason, for one day, could turn that 12 o’clock in the afternoon into a 13 o’clock? How would you spend one extra hour? But let’s say there was a rule that you could not use it on your normal stuff such as work, study, mommy-hood, Daddy-hood, chores, school, ‘laundry’.

How would you use it? Ask yourself what might God want you to do?

Make that phone call to brighten up someones day?

Take that walk with your dog you know he or she would cherish having?

Vegging outside and just soak up some sun? Heck, grab that book you never have time to read. (or write)

Play with your child that kid game your child always asks “Do you have time now to play that game?”

I bet your list could get long just thinking about it.

Woman Reading Long List

How about you look at your clock now, making your own 13th hour fit it where you think it could go. How about the middle of the day, late afternoon, after all the kids are down or before they wake up the next morning.

Take a time to say ‘Thank you God. Thanks for all the time you give and guide me in with so much that I do. Thanks now for encouraging me to take that little ‘blink of an eye’ hour to escape my normal routine and enjoy a bit more sweet and simple 13th hour this day.

Way – Five Minute Friday

             – Way – Five Minute Friday –

We often hear the same word placed in a few different sentences.

She does things her way. — He does things his way. — I’m going to do all this my way.

Can you see what word is in all three sentences?  Way – This word has stood out to me for years, sort of the theme of my very own book I wrote to help others think the right way. It’s a book about how I once thought, years ago,  I could walk on the road in life my way. Man, was I wrong.

God had me see through a tougher than normal trial that God’s way is what we should be following. But knowing we still mess up, and still have certain sins tucked deep inside, we may need to take a rough road to discover we can’t follow His way if we put ourselves first. My story shows that God does forgive, and if He sees us working our tail off getting back on that right road, HIS road, He’ll then get up back on the right way – HIS way.

Vacation – Five Minute Friday

                                – Vacation –

Vacation

“Be patient. Be patient, Marianne. You and the man I gave you may have to wait until all your kids I blessed you with are all out before you two can really go out on one cool and relaxing vacation. Remember. Patience is a virtue.”

Now sure, God didn’t say those exact words to me years ago, but it sure feels like it now. Having four kids, homeschooling many of those years, being pretty much a one-income family, we just couldn’t do much vacationing aside from camping off and on in life. (Which were all awesome, by the way.) Or, if we did stay in a hotel, it wasn’t the most relaxing atmosphere. No real planned, day after day hotel stays of just him and I. No real ’Heck, since it’s only you and I here, we’ll do this and, heck, get this thing as well.”

None of that until – drum roll please – when my husband and I got our first taste of that a few years ago.

What? Just my husband and I? Really?  Yep. And those hotels even come with a hot tub ! We’ve even been able to do a few more afterwards.

22007908_10211479451556349_6926518200776794096_n

I thank God, and take being able to do this now as His way of saying – “Marianne, you and your hubby have worked your tails off raising your kids. You deserve a vacation. Maybe you did have to wait until all the kids I gave you were moved out, but as you can see . . .it was well worth the wait.

‘IF’ – Small Yet Strong – Five Minute Friday

                 – ‘If’ – Small Yet Strong –

I have found two ways to get you surprised at how a tiny or huge project you are working on can turn out. There is, however, one word that starts each of them: the word If

The first way is . . . IF you first-off ask God for His help.

pray-2558490_960_720.jpg

As years go by you learn you can not do much without Him right there. He’ll either push you, pull you, be right there by your side, and yes, sometimes even carry you during that project

The second way is . . . IF we, along with asking God for His help, WORK OUR TAIL OFF!

As we truly feel that it’s fine what we are pursuing, we can’t just say prayer will do it. Work, work, and more work is often the M. U. S. T.

Giving it your all is what’s needed to have your end result make you smile.

AIFA4.jpg

So, IF you ask for God’s hand and guidance, and IF you work your tail off, God will be right next to you as you both pull up your sleeves, look at each other, then look at the task ahead, saying . . . ‘Let’s go for it!’
